Pack the House

bigstock-State-Capitol-33215000.jpgJoin Oregon Alliance for Gun Safety members for the hearing on SB 941:  background checks. The hearing will be with the House Rules Committee and will be held on Wednesday, April 22nd at 1pm at the Oregon State Capital in Hearing Room 50.  We are strongly encouraging folks to arrive at 11am to ensure a seat in the hearing room.

 Be There: 

Arrive early, bring change for parking, and find Hearing Room 50 in the basement. 

Be Seen:

Wear a shirt, sticker, or button showing your support for SB 941: background checks. Signs and placards are not permitted in the Capitol. Please arrive early and fill the front seats. 

Be Heard:

If you would like to testify, please arrive early and sign up outside Hearing Room 50. Testimony will be limited to 2 minutes per person, due to the high level of interest in the bill. Bring at least two printed copies of your testimony, one to read and one for the clerk.  

Address your testimony to "Chair Hoyle, and members of the Committee". Be respectful and express your thanks. Include the bill number (SB 941) and your name and the city where you are from, and whether you represent an organization. Please read here for additional tips on testifying.

Parking:

Bring change! Street parking is available at coin-operated meters located throughout the Capitol Mall. All-day, City of Salem parking passes may be used at any Capitol Mall parking meters within the area defined on the back of the pass. The passes are sold in Room 49 at the State Capitol. You may also be able to find a spot in the Yellow Lot, where you can pay at a machine with a debit or credit card.
