Our Vision

  • Common-sense gun legislation at the state and local level will slow the epidemic of gun violence in Oregon and prevent shootings like those at Thurston High School, Umpqua Community College, Clackamas Town Center, and Reynolds High School.

  • Oregonians can work together to find sensible solutions to gun violence.

  • Diverse constituencies organized at the grassroots level can encourage elected officials to enact new gun safety and gun responsibility policies.

Our Membership

In 2013, Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, Ceasefire Oregon, and the Brady Campaign formed the Oregon Alliance to Prevent Gun Violence to coordinate advocacy efforts and pass state legislation. The Alliance has grown to include more 50 organizations including:

  • Oregon Nurses Association

  • Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon

  • Oregon Public Health Association

  • Oregon Medical Association

  • Oregon Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence

What We're Fighting For

We believe that with rights come responsibilities. Common-sense gun laws help all Oregonians – gun owners and otherwise – by keeping guns out of the hands of dangerous people. We advocate for legislation including:

  • Expanded firearm background checks that cover private and online sales.

  • Criminal and civil liability for allowing a minor to negligently access to a firearm.
